Most maps of the Santa Fe fall calendar stop at Zozobra and Balloon Fiesta. The Eldorado version does not. It starts a week later than the downtown one and runs a month longer, closing on the last weekend of November instead of the last weekend of October.
If you already live off Avenida Vista Grande or Avenida Eldorado, the useful thing to know is not that these events exist. You have driven past the sandwich boards. The useful thing is how they overlap, where they collide, and which Friday evening in September is doing two jobs at once.
The Friday That Belongs To Two Things At Once
The 34th Annual Eldorado Studio Tour runs September 19–20, 2026, with more than 100 local artists opening their working studios. The soft opening is the night before. The Preview Gallery Opening Reception is Friday, September 18, from 5–7 PM.
That is the same window the Eldorado Farmers' Market keeps every Friday 3–6 PM at La Tienda, May 29 through October 2. The market and the Preview Reception overlap by exactly one hour, and they sit less than a mile apart. If you have been going to the market every Friday since Memorial Day weekend, September 18 is the one Friday to reverse the order: produce first at 3, gallery at 5.

There is also a quieter overlap the following week. The market's final Friday of the 2026 season is October 2. If you missed a favorite vendor in the Studio Tour rush, that is the last Friday to catch them at Caliente Road before winter.
What Actually Happens On Tour Weekend
The scale is what surprises new residents. The Eldorado Studio Tour is New Mexico's largest and longest-running studio tour, featuring over 100 artists across more than 60 studios in Eldorado at Santa Fe. That is not a claim about ambition. It is a logistical fact. Sixty studios in a single community over two days means most residents will not see all of them, and pretending otherwise is how the weekend gets exhausting.
The Preview Gallery exists specifically to solve that. It shows one featured artwork from every participating artist in a single location, so visitors can plan the tour before visiting the studios. The practical read: go to the Preview Reception on Friday, mark three or four studios on the printed map, and treat Saturday and Sunday as targeted stops with time built in for lunch.
Lunch is where La Tienda earns its second shift of the weekend. The Eldorado Taphouse pairs craft beer and local wine with Fuzion Tacos (birria) and Chai Yo (Thai) a few steps away. Between studios in the Avenida Amistad cluster and studios closer to Avenida Torreon, La Tienda sits close enough to the middle to be the natural regrouping point.
The Trivia Question No One Seems To Agree On
Eldorado Trivia Night has been quietly rescheduling itself, and depending on which listing you read, you will get a different answer.
The older listings still say fourth Monday of the month. Santa Fe Tourism describes Eldorado Trivia Nights as held on the 4th Monday of the month at 7 pm at Santa Fe Brewing's Eldorado Taphouse, with a $10 per person entry that benefits VGPL. That is the version that has been posted for over a year.
The current Vista Grande Public Library programs page tells a different story. Trivia Night moves to Wednesdays at the Taphouse.
If you have been showing up on a Monday and finding the room quiet, that is why. Confirm the current night on the library's programs page before you round up a team. Either way, the taphouse itself holds 14 taps plus cider and wine and carries the NFL Ticket, so a wrong-night visit is not a wasted one.
What VGPL's 25th Year Is Building Toward
The library is the pacemaker of the shoulder season, and 2026 happens to be its 25th anniversary. Volunteers built a library in Eldorado to serve rural Santa Fe County, and Vista Grande Public Library opened its doors 25 years ago. The birthday programming ran August 21, with a photography presentation by John H. Stewart, and August 22 with a Birthday Bash featuring live music by The Flashback Prophets, refreshments, kids' activities, art sales, and free books.
The fall programs are quieter and more useful. Rock Time Geology and Archaeology is Saturday, October 4, 11 AM to 2 PM, and Car 101 is Saturday, October 25, 10 AM to Noon. Car 101 is the one worth flagging for households with a teen driver. Rock Time lands the Saturday after the market closes, which makes it the first non-market Saturday of the season with something to do at the library.
The recurring programs matter more than any single event. The bi-monthly Gardening Tips session at Vista Grande Library runs with Master Gardeners. For anyone who has watched a piñon lose bark to bark beetles this year, that is a more valuable hour than most homeowners realize. Book people already know about the Lunch Bunch Book Group, but new residents often do not.
The Bookend Everyone Forgets
Here is the fact that most fall roundups miss. The season does not end when the market closes. It does not end at Halloween. It ends five weeks later.
The Eldorado Arts and Crafts Association Winter Art Show typically takes place during the last weekend of November at the Eldorado Community Center. That is the same organization that runs the Studio Tour, and the show functions as the season's closing bracket. Studio Tour opens the calendar in September. Winter Art Show closes it in November. The eight weeks between are the actual Eldorado fall.
The community garden layer adds one more anchor for anyone who prefers to walk their fall. The Cactus Rescue Project runs a Garden Tour for Eldorado, with 13 gardens featured throughout Eldorado including the cactus garden at La Tienda. The garden tour is a spring and early-summer format, but the plants stay in the ground, and mid-October is when the tour route quietly becomes a self-guided walk with better light and no crowds.
